Mike Jackson of AutoNation Addresses the Greater Philadelphia Auto Dealers Association
Speaking to the “Greater Philadelphia Area Automobile Dealer’s Association, Mike Jackson, Chairman and CEO of AutoNation, the largest auto dealership in the United States, addressed the membership of the Philadelphia Auto Dealers Association recently to give support and guidance through these difficult times for the auto industry.
Mr. Jackson gave a forward looking but realistic perspective on the current state of the U.S. economy; and provided solutions and ideas to the attendees of the conference for getting through this tough economic downturn . “You have to make it to the “other side” Mike Jackson told the audiance - encouragingly; suggesting that those who will be able to survive these “brutal” times in the auto industry, will be rewarded as the future will be bright, though the structure of the industry may look quite different but will be very profitable…. and possibly even fun.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Mr. Jackson who attended St. Joseph’s University, was warmly welcomed by his hometown and was interviewed by the local media, to which he provide his analysis of the industry at large.
Mike Jackson, speaking to WCAU Channel 10's Tim Lake,.. stated that ‘There still is a credit crisis, but some credit is flowing, however the industry is only selling at a 10 million unit pace average, and believe it or not after the fuel crisis, now that fuel prices have come back down, people are migrating away from fuel efficiency back to larger cars.” But fuel prices will eventually go back up, “one way or the other” so any new car purchaser will serve themselves well to make fuel efficiency a high priority in their new car or truck purchase.
'So there is credit available and truly this is an extraordinary time to buy a new car or truck because there is an over supply of vehicles right now, and those who come in to their local dealership will be rewarded with a great vehicle at a most reasonable price.'
